What I wore: Blue Heart

As I mentioned in this post, my mum and I have been making a couple of things recently. Not only a couple of cute tops like we've made before, but we also branched out to a skirt this time! I got the material from trago mills (general discount store) for about £3.80 a metre but I only needed half so it was very cheap. We followed this as a general guideline that was helpfully found through pinterest :)

It is just the skirt, but I made the grey belt especially too. I will probably make another skirt the next time I find some sweet material so I'll do a little photo tutorial, although the one linked really is comprehensive enough!

It just is what it is

I just love it because it's gona be so versatile, I've already worn it with two different tops! Certainly will be making more as soon as I find some material I love :)

quick catch up

I feel like I've been up to loads since I last posted which is swell :)

Drinking beer whilst making clothes

So I went out to my mum's yesterday and we got to making a couple of things - a top and a skirt.. While I'm going to do a whole outfit post for the skirt I thought I'd share the top with you because I'm too excited to not show you anything!

It's just the same style as the others made, spoken about here, but still as cool

I did my nails cool.
every time I look at them it reminds me of Easter because of the little foil eggs you can get??
which makes me quite happy :)

Whilst having Sunday dinner at my Nan's she admitted to having started to knit me a jumper for winter! From what I've seen of it I'm rather excited; I'm sure it'll be as nice as the one her sister made.

Today I spent the day walking around woodland with a friend which was a lovely way to spend the first bit of sun we've had in ages! We got pretty lost and ended up climbing through growth and over stones but it was a tonne of fun. He turned around to me and said 'just so we're clear, am I allowed to laugh if you slip and fall?' which shows we are pretty new friends because everyone knows the answer to that is yes, and I will laugh at you if you slip, even without your permission, as it is a genetic trait that I cannot stop myself. Cheers dad.

Hope you had a lovely day in the sun :)

p.s. currently loving this song.. MUM LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE I KEEP MEANING TO SEND IT TO YOU!

What I wore: They were sitting, they were talking in the strawberry swing..

I now make clothes.
Ha no not really, well kinda, I really like this certain style of top but mum always says, 'they're so easy to make, don't buy it, we'll do it one day'.. well that day came. I chose 3 different types of material and on we went.
Mum already has the pattern so I set to pinning and cutting

We did a tailors tack

Then paired top and bottom together

We folded in the collar and pinned the sides

I tried it on (and decided on no sleeves)

It was prickley and hurt ha.

but here is the finished piece,

Almost a staceyface but not quite, just caught unawares ha

 AND NOW!
Some jumping photo's, inspired by Kaylah

and she's right

they're so much fun

even if..

you're by yourself

and have no one to laugh with.

Seen as the top has lots of strawberries on it, what better accessory than a sparkly apple?
'None' I hear you say? Well, I have to agree.

So in conclusion, my mum was right. These tops are easy to make. I already have the blue version and I'm anticipating the black version, I think I'm going to become addicted... Have you ever tried making anything?
