Hip hop Nails
So, it was Theanas birthday recently and in honesty I didn't know what to get her. Typically I've thought of two good things since so they've made it onto a back up list ;) one item I did buy her however, was my favourite brand of nail polish, in a colour I think she quite likes (nudes)... Whilst browsing for her I clearly couldn't contain myself and ended up buying a lil somethin' somethin'

Nails #14 Navy Seal
This colour is called Navy Seal and the second varnish I bagged in the 3 for 2 deal. I absolutely love this make - it's expensive but definitely my new favourite make. The colours are beautiful, so shiny, the coverage is perfect in two coats and it lasts at least one week but definitely more for me, even without a top coat. I hope I get a few more colours from this collection for Christmas as it's just so good!

Nails #13 Jazz funk
I've been after this nail varnish for AGES. Even made a bet with Michael in which my prize would be this nail varnish- serious colour crush. Well I won the bet but he didn't follow through (who knew tesco wasn't the best place to buy cosmetics?). And then I got a £3 off 3 for 2 voucher in boots.. And all my dreams came true
So here's the first in the trio -

Nails #12 Ombre
On the last ombre nails post, Jasmin from the Happy Sloths said something like 'Ombre always looks good' and I said pah! You should see the awfulness I have come up with! But, now, I have to agree. once you get the hang of it, it's super easy and simple. I'm grateful for that though because it's so pretty! I do have one word of wisdom though, and if you're a painter you'll already know - use the lighter colour as the base coat.
I used an essie blue and a rimmel green. SUCH a bad beauty blogger. I will add this information in soon.

Nails #11 Ombre
No, my hair is not going to be some bright shade of ginger and auburn.. I mean my nails! I had so much fun trying this technique out. I tried it once before by doing just the nail varnish on the make up sponge, but that was very very thin, so like a good student I research it some more and figured out that people do one colour first, so I chose the pink, and then still do both the colours on the make up sponge to make sure it blends nicely.
Of course I got better as it as I went along, so I'd rather not show you my right hand, haha! But I am very glad I tried this colour combination, as I wasn't a fan of the orange just by itself, so now I don't need to throw it away! Hooray! and I will definitely be trying this out with more combinations, because I love looking down at my nails and seeing how pretty they are :D
Have you tried this? What technique do you use?

Nails #9 decorated pearl
In poundland the other day, I found some really sweet things to make nail art even more fun! There are 12 different 'jewel's'- a variety of stars, flowers, clovers and hearts. I am not the most proud of this design, I have definitely come up with better things (it's the colour pairing that's off in my opinion..) but this one's still cute in its own way. I love this pearly colour that my sister got me for my birthday, but I thought the pink of the star needed grey behind it, and together it just doesn't quite work.
Have you ever used nail gems? How do you find them? That wooden stick was so useful.. it woulda been a struggle if I didn't have it!
After re-looking at these photo's I couldn't kid myself anymore that I could walk around with nails like that, so I added another purpley shade on top of the pearl

Nails #8 pastel graffiti
Similar to the galaxy nails and the graffiti nails I've done previously, I tried out something new with pastel colours! I also decided to add some silver lines on top, because I just felt like it needed more. I love them but they're just not as good as the galaxy nails, I think I'll have to do them again soon.
I also made the foolish mistake of doing this at half ten, now I'm still up waiting for them to dry :| (it's 12.15am) Hope you're having a good Monday!

Nails #7 Purple Nurple
Okay so it's nothing to do with purple nurples luckily, but it's the only thing I could think that went with purple haha! I love these two colours together, the lilac is from avon and the darker purple is Barry M. I decided to use cellotape and put the two colours together, and then just to finish them off I added some black in between.
I hope that they never chip and I get to wear them for a long time. It makes me so happy when I look down and see how pretty they are!

Nails #3 Galaxy Nails
I saw this on Kaylah's blog a long while back, but fell in love straight away. I thought it'd be quite difficult to do but I was actually wrong! It was simpler than some of the celotape designs I do and a lot more fun/creative.
I would do a tutorial of how to do galaxy nails, but Jen over at Polish and Pearls did such a good job, I don't really think mine would be of any use! All I would say is that I didn't have as bright a blue as Jen did and it still looks cool, and I only had one type of glittery nail polish - so do what you can with what you have, any which way galaxy nails are cool in my book.
what do you think?! I'm so proud, I look down at them all day long and I'm gona be sad when they start chipping. Definitely give it a go though, and let me know how it goes :)

Nails #2; Pink on Pink
This pink nail varnish (the one on the bulk of the nail) is quite possibly my favourite. Michael knows it as 'the one that makes me smile every time I look down and see it'. Because it really does, how can a nail varnish do that?! Anyways. The other colour on the tips is a gift from my nan, whilst it is a little gloopy the colour is amazing and I am a fan. I wanted these colours together as it is quite simple and you wouldn't really see unless you were looking, which is my kind of thing :)
Argh, they are just so pretty! I love them. The shades are '405 Rose Libertine' (left bottle) and '623 wishing on a star' (right bottle), both Rimmel as you can see :)
How's your Tuesday going? I'm off not a new lecture, wish me luck!
Bad cuticles, my bad.

Nails #1; pastel and gold
I love this colour nail varnish, although I haven't found an outfit that it actually works with bar using it as an opposite/contrast. Today (okay you got me, yesterday...) I did the blue base coast and made sure the nails were so so so dry, it definitely doesn't work if you aren't 100000% sure they're dry. And then I just used celotape to choose which areas I wanted to paint with gold too - this is a pretty common thing on the blog/internet scene at the moment but if you'd like me to do a tutorial just let me know and I'll happily oblige :)
Both thumbs have parallel lines but I can't take a photo with no hands so I can't show you unfortunately :( I have plans and must dash off but I hope you're all well and have had a lovely Tuesday :)
these are the colours- L'Oreal 602 and Miss Sporty 251

quick catch up
I feel like I've been up to loads since I last posted which is swell :)
So I went out to my mum's yesterday and we got to making a couple of things - a top and a skirt.. While I'm going to do a whole outfit post for the skirt I thought I'd share the top with you because I'm too excited to not show you anything!
Drinking beer whilst making clothes
It's just the same style as the others made, spoken about here, but still as cool
I did my nails cool.
every time I look at them it reminds me of Easter because of the little foil eggs you can get??
which makes me quite happy :)
Whilst having Sunday dinner at my Nan's she admitted to having started to knit me a jumper for winter! From what I've seen of it I'm rather excited; I'm sure it'll be as nice as the one her sister made.
Today I spent the day walking around woodland with a friend which was a lovely way to spend the first bit of sun we've had in ages! We got pretty lost and ended up climbing through growth and over stones but it was a tonne of fun. He turned around to me and said 'just so we're clear, am I allowed to laugh if you slip and fall?' which shows we are pretty new friends because everyone knows the answer to that is yes, and I will laugh at you if you slip, even without your permission, as it is a genetic trait that I cannot stop myself. Cheers dad.
Hope you had a lovely day in the sun :)
p.s. currently loving this song.. MUM LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE I KEEP MEANING TO SEND IT TO YOU!

Nails
Finally! I got home Monday evening rather late (Just before 12!) and it's so nice to be back home. Yes, that means I've heard from the sub warden position and I'm pleased to say I got it and at the residence I wanted! Yay! So, onto today's business - Kaylah has inspired me to play around with my nails a lot more recently, so here are a few things I've done :)
Have you been trying anything or got a varnish to recommend? Link me! xx
