The Pact

Pact coffee is something I learned about through thelondoner. She shared with everyone a code which meant we could get delicious coffee delivered to our door for £1! £1!! (You know what? I have my own code too! If you want to get £1 coffee go to their website and use the code '#joyofsix').

Pacts mantra is that everyone should enjoy good coffee. So they've set up a business that sends you coffee depending on how often you drink it (delivery ranges from weekly to monthly etc) and they will carefully select different types for you to try. They also give you the options of ground for a filter or beans etc- rejoice in the choice!

Of course I took thelondoner up on the offer. You sign up online, write in your preferences, browse the selection and chose. The coffee is quickly delivered but be careful not to tear open all the packets- I think the second one is full of coffee! (A warning would have been nice though)

I am yet to try the coffee as I had to dash off to work (and I kinda feel that you need to sit down and enjoy a good coffee- else you're just looking for caffeine and I'm trying my darnedest not to be a caffeine addict!) but I'm sure an update will ensue.

I'm going to spend the day reading at my current favourite spot. The tea is wonderful, the cake is to die for and their tea cakes, I wish I could make them myself. Speaking on making myself... A Christmas cinnamon nut recipe may be making an appearance soon!

Goosey Fair

Every year, in Tavistock, a lovely little town near where I live, there is a fair. It's rumoured to be called Goosey fair because farmers walked their geese through the town to the market to be sold, which adds even more charm in my opinion :) I have never been before, but Michael and his family do not stop raving about it, and when Michael talks about it his whole face lights up like an excited little kid. So of course I had to go down and see what it's all about!

It was organised very well, with 3 different park and ride spots to try and relieve the usual congestion, which worked like a dream. Hollie, Josh and I drove to the car park, hopped on the bus and got excited about what we might find. I typically needed the toilet the whole way, why? why? why do I always drink a cup of water before I leave the house?? Why do you still feel thirsty even when your bursting for the loo?? One of life's unfair mysteries. So anyways, once we got there, I headed straight for the loo and left the others watching the fair ground rides whilst smelling the donut-filled air.

There were far more rides than I could photograph, and you all know what they look like anyways (plus I've reclaimed some shyness from not taking photographs all the time and felt hesitant at some points). So next it was onto the other streets (literally 3-4 full streets filled, I never realised it was so big!). These mainly offered food and old tat that you don't want or need as an adult, but loved as a child.

There were many different options for savoury food; chinese noodles, pork rolls, burgers, chips etc, the food you expect from this kinda thing! and also sweets, cotton candy, donuts, churros, cakes.

We had pork rolls for dinner, which were slightly disappointing, but only because we then found a secret stall with venison and wild boar on it, that's much more up my street! oh well.

My favourite stall was this one;

I bought some goodies too! Those salt and pepper cashew nuts were incredible.

We got on the bus home nibbling on our buys, and decided to have a fancy coffee (I bought Hollie an espresso maker for her birthday!), whilst watching Masterchef Australia. Certainly a great evening spent with wonderful friends :D

Turkish Coffee for Three

My friend Helen came to visit Rosi and I last week, as she is from York and wanted to see where we lived. While we waited for Rosi to bike to us, I took Helen on a little tour - all the big shops but also all the little independent ones too! Following this, we went to a cafe for a cuppa and food (that my mum loves).

After we were suitably full, the girls complained that their coffee was awful and they needed something better. As a fan of Turkish coffee myself, we went to a little place around the corner for some good-quality drinking. It was so cute, a little vintage store with tonnes of things to look at, play with and actually buy. Although it was a little independent place, it was very well presented and thought out.

The coffee definitely hit the spot and I wouldn't hesitate to go back and have another rummage around. We have a wonderful catch up and went our separate ways to continue with some work :(

Weekly Roundup #34

Are you ready for possibly the longest weekly catch up I will ever write? It's more like a monthly catch up, and there are gona be so many photo's I'll have to make them a medium size rather than large. I have been up to lots, but most of it has been sat at my laptop, writing away. I'm thoroughly enjoying my latest project though, so this is certainly not a complaint.

Whilst looking over everything I'm about to post about, I've noticed it's mainly drinks haha. I've moved away from my food and just onto the drinks it appears!

we had a course gathering - always tonnes of food and prosecco!
I made veggie keema, Rosi had peach ginger tea
(huge post, little break here)
