Goosey Fair

Every year, in Tavistock, a lovely little town near where I live, there is a fair. It's rumoured to be called Goosey fair because farmers walked their geese through the town to the market to be sold, which adds even more charm in my opinion :) I have never been before, but Michael and his family do not stop raving about it, and when Michael talks about it his whole face lights up like an excited little kid. So of course I had to go down and see what it's all about!

It was organised very well, with 3 different park and ride spots to try and relieve the usual congestion, which worked like a dream. Hollie, Josh and I drove to the car park, hopped on the bus and got excited about what we might find. I typically needed the toilet the whole way, why? why? why do I always drink a cup of water before I leave the house?? Why do you still feel thirsty even when your bursting for the loo?? One of life's unfair mysteries. So anyways, once we got there, I headed straight for the loo and left the others watching the fair ground rides whilst smelling the donut-filled air.

There were far more rides than I could photograph, and you all know what they look like anyways (plus I've reclaimed some shyness from not taking photographs all the time and felt hesitant at some points). So next it was onto the other streets (literally 3-4 full streets filled, I never realised it was so big!). These mainly offered food and old tat that you don't want or need as an adult, but loved as a child.

There were many different options for savoury food; chinese noodles, pork rolls, burgers, chips etc, the food you expect from this kinda thing! and also sweets, cotton candy, donuts, churros, cakes.

We had pork rolls for dinner, which were slightly disappointing, but only because we then found a secret stall with venison and wild boar on it, that's much more up my street! oh well.

My favourite stall was this one;

I bought some goodies too! Those salt and pepper cashew nuts were incredible.

We got on the bus home nibbling on our buys, and decided to have a fancy coffee (I bought Hollie an espresso maker for her birthday!), whilst watching Masterchef Australia. Certainly a great evening spent with wonderful friends :D

The Room Change, Part 1

This post has been a long time coming, I think you'll agree. But yes, I finally decided to bite the bullet and write it up. I had a lot of fun and also a lot of frustrations sorting this room re-jig, hopefully writing it up means I remember the good times too! I have to add that my room is still not finished, there's more I want to do to it but with very little funds it's just not possible right now. So here is what my room looked like before; purple and green walls, with blue carpet and a single bed...

I had a lot of magazine pages on my wall, all with adverts that I liked or stories I wanted to keep. It suited me in high school, but I've disliked it since being at uni. So down down down came all of the papers.

My biggest desire for the room was to have my carpet up, my old carpet isn't bad, but I LOVE wood floors and I wanted whatever was under the carpet to be exposed. Dad complied and started hacking away at it. It was a messy job as the underlay had gone funny, so we had to do it in sections, but it was worth it!

(I ate houmous and carrot)

With all the moving of the beds, sorting different items out, hoovering up the junk and carrying the carpet around, it was a very long day. I know my dad has a soft spot for ice cream, and headed to tesco for these bad boys -

We ate a fair bit of each tub and then swapped (our usual tactic) but after a few spoonfuls, agreed we preferred what we had initially, and swapped back!

So the finished floor looks like this
I know I could stain it, or paint it or whatever, but I love it as it is. I wanted a rustic, creaky, worn out room and those floorboards were just the start!

On a different note, it's my 500th post today. Can you believe that? 500?? Just crazy. How do I have enough to ramble on about for 500 posts. I almost feel like a fraud. and I feel like this should be far more of a celebration than I can give it... so here's a little compilation of my favourite dance celebration GIFs ha.

poo-poo to you, blogging funk.

I've decided to poo-poo this blogging funk. There are so many things that you fall out of love with that you get back into (mostly because you have to) such as a case at work, a book your reading or an assignment you're writing. So yeah, I decided that blogging overload is the only way to combat such issues. What do you reckon? Okay well there's another reason, my friend Eley just found my blog (and I hope she likes how many times she's featured in different a posts, and suddenly realises why I take random photo's all the time! ha), so lets all say hi to her :)

And this evening, as you may have already predicted, I have an outfit to share.

Remember that shirt a while ago, that Harriet gave me, that I wasn't sure how to wear? Well I rethought it. And this is my take on wearing a shirt. Not making it into a shirt at all! I like it, it makes me feel too fancy to wear day-to-day but I think it'll be alright on a night out or to dinner or something! Although this tight dress means you can see the tights I'm wearing and that's not at all weird... I feel like a pregnant lady who has one of those tummy lines.

Natalie (my sister), her husband and my niece, Isabelle, are on holiday this week, and I got a text earlier saying that Belle won a dancing competition, which is just the cutest as she's only just 1 year old, and already a great dancer. Anytime a beat comes on she wiggles side to side with the biggest grin, oh she's my favourite person.

Also, as a little update, Michael got back from Afghanistan on the 28th!! There was a big hoo-ha with the flights, but most importantly we got him back in one piece and for a whole week. It was pretty damn sweet if I'm honest. We spent most of it seeing family, eating food and cuddling/watching TV.

Speak to you soon :)
